292-2020 – Oven cooked gander

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is about an oven cooked gander meal with mash potatoes.

Oven Cooked Gander with mashed potatoes

I’ve marinated the meat in 14 years old red wine, freshly squeezed orange juice, salt and pepper for 24 hours in the fridge. Today, I took it out and left it at room temperature for three hours before I shoved it into the log burner oven. Beforehand, I chopped two onions, apples, carrots and mix it with salt, pepper and spices. In the cooking tray where the marinated sauce was, I’ve added the chopped vegetables and lay the meat on top. From time to time, I would take the tray out of the oven and use a spoon to pour liquid over the meat.
So far it smells delicious, but the meant is mot tender yet so I will put it back in the over for a few more hours.
