138-2020 – Relaxed Lockdown

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is about celebrating the Relaxed Lockdown with my family on the beach on Canvey Island. I am starting to like this relaxed lockdown. The streets and beaches are almost empty. Nobody is wearing any masks, and just mind their own business. I just hope that some of my friends will realise that by staying inside on a beautiful day like this, they are weakening their immune system, which will make them more vulnerable against other common diseases. Let’s not forget that sooner or later will all going […]

137-2020 – Visit Southend on Sea

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is about our visit to Southend on Sea shortly after the government lifted the lockdown restrictions. It was a warm sunny day (17 degrees Celsius), perfect for a stroll on the widened promenade. A few shop were open, candy floss, donuts, ice cream even fish and chips. Social distancing Security Staff were deployed to remind people to keep their distance. Southend’s seafront promenade has been widened as part of moves to keep people safe and socially distant following the lockdown easing. A few people preferred to sit […]

136-2020 – Socialising during lockdown

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is about the way we end up socialising during lockdown. This is pathetic. Government is saying that these measures were taken to so the NHS can cope with the influx of potential patients infected with Covid-19. While we all save the NHS my mother is in pain every day waiting for a hip replacement which has been delayed due to Covid-19. Like my mother there are so many other cases. I ask myself again, is this lockdown really worth it and who is counting the damage it […]

134-2020 – Chestnut Tree

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is about a majestic chestnut tree in bloom I encountered during my daily walk in the Gloucester Park at sunset. It was a chilly evening but the scenery was wonderful and totally worth it. Like, comment & share!

133-2020 – Fox Cubs

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is about the new arrivals in our neighbourhood: Fox Cubs. They are playful and shy. It took me a while to capture one on camera. Have you spot it in the image below? On January 10, I captured on camera the moment of creation right in front of my kitchen window. 4 months later the Fox Cubs are here! Around this time of the year, it’s common to see month-old cubs developing survival skills above ground.  Like, comment & share!

129-2020 – Chamomile

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, was taken in my front communal garden, and is a close-up on a chamomile flower. I also liked this image but I like the symmetry in the first image more. A few other shots taken that day during the same session. To capture this image I used a Canon 5D Mark III, with an Oshiro 60mm F2.8 Macro lens in bright sunlight. I can’t remember the exact settings, but from the metadata, I was able to extract the following: ISO 800, 1/250s most likely at F8, 1:1 […]

128-2020 – Romanian Cabbage Rolls

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is about one of my favourite dishes, Romanian Cabbage Rolls with minced meat, served with cream fresh and hot chilli peppers. I few weeks ago I bought Cabbage Rolls from one the Romanian shop in Basildon and I promised myself it will never happen again. The worst £10 I ever spent!Today, I bought a pack of pork and beef minced meat, mixed it with 200 g of rice, a chopped onion, 3 eggs, dill and thyme. Then, I washed a pickled cabbage in cold water and separate […]

127-2020 – Forests on the Moon?

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020, is cropped shot of the full moon. This image was taken with Canon 5D Mark III, with a 70-200 mm @200, 1/250s, F11, ISO 100 and apart from cropping no other edits have been done. I started noticing a slight tint on green on certain areas on the moon which leads me to believe that might be forests over there. Who knows? Like, comment & share!

126-2020 – Stickers

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is all about having fun with stickers…stickers with Trolls obviously. Apparently the best place to stick them is on my face. At least someone looks like is having fun…and is not me! Like, comment & share!

125-2020 – Empty Road

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is about an empty road in Basildon at sunset. This was taken during our daily walk today in Gloucester Park. All the playgrounds were closed. My daughter got upset, but she cheered up when we played tag on the top of the hill. Like, comment & share!

124-2020 – Romanian Lemon Layer Cake

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is about a traditional Romanian Lemon Layer Cake called Alba ca Zapada (Snow White Cake) This is my childhood favourite cake. I never tried make it myself until yesterday and today I am proud of showing it to you. Like, comment & share!

122-2020 – Under the moonlight

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, has been taken under the moonlight in front of my house. I feel that I am running out of ideas. Taking a photo a day can be easy unless I am trying to make it memorable. The lockdown doesn’t help in this regards. Same shit, different day. As I was writing this blog post, I stopped and listened to the WHO press conference in which they announced that their recommendations will stay the same and they will reconvene again in 90 days. So much bullshit in one […]

121-2020 – Shy Rainbow

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is about a shy rainbow hidden behind the clouds, afraid to come out and celebrate another NHS Thursday. The same like the rainbow, only a couple of people came out at 8pm to celebrate the hard working NHS staff. Could this be a sign? Like, comment & share!

120-2020 – Weeping Willow Tree

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is of a Weeping Willow Tree, right next to The Plough & Tractor Pub in Basildon. Technically, are more than one tree in the picture, but I positioned myself in such a way that one tree blocks the other. Apparently, weeping willow trees get their common name from the way that rain looks like tears when it’s dripping off the curved branches.Like, comment & share!
