218-2020 – Yellow Flowers

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is about an interesting phenomenon I noticed in my garden in regards to these yellow flowers. In the morning, these yellow flowers were covering a good chunk of the garden, as seen in the picture above, but in the afternoon they were gone. On a closer look, it seems that these yellow flowers don’t like the sun’s heat too much and they close up, as you can see in the image below. Like, comment & share!

207-2020 – Sword Lily

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is of sword lily, a flower I didn’t know I have in my garden, also knows as garden montbretia. We’ve been away for 10 days and beside the sword lilies we also enjoyed a few ripe strawberries from our garden. Let’s not forget about the tomato plants. Before we left some of them had flowers and today I saw this… Soon we’ll enjoy our own tomato salad. I can’t wait for it. Like, comment & share!

I also liked this image but I like the symmetry in the first image more. A few other shots taken that day during the same session. To capture this image I used a Canon 5D Mark III, with an Oshiro 60mm F2.8 Macro lens in bright sunlight. I can’t remember the exact settings, but from the metadata, I was able to extract the following: ISO 800, 1/250s most likely at F8, 1:1 […]

Kew Gardens – A corner of paradise in London?

Kew Gardens – A corner of paradise in London?  One day, I decided to go out without knowing exactly where I’m going. I took the central line thinking of going to White City because I had never been to that place. I launched Google Maps and browsed the area. I spotted Kew Gardens and my destination was clear. The second I made up my mind, the train stopped at Mile End Station so I quickly changed to the District Line train to Richmond. The first train was for Ealing Broadway so I decided to get off at Earl’s Court and wait for […]
