Winter in Romania

Did you ever wonder how is winter in Romania?

Winter in Romania is cold but when is snowing is very beautiful. Temperatures can go to -25 degrees Celsius or below. Snow is covering everything and when the sun shines is truly amazing. Houses are covered with a thick layer of snow, and long icicles are hanging by the gutters.

We like making snowmen, skiing down the slope or on a sledge, fighting with snow, or driving the ATV.

Winter can be fun for the entire family. Some are totally involved and some are just as happy watching the action as it unfolds.

The best views are at the top of the mountains where we are closer to the sun.

After spending all afternoon on the slope or photographing the scenery I stop by Coliba Haiducilor for traditional Romanian cuisine, filled with traditional artefacts and live music.

The food is great but not as good as homemade soup made with love on the stove.

As I mentioned in a previous post, winter is when the family comes together and celebrates Christmas and New Year along with all the traditions passed on from generations such as “Pig Slaughter”.

In a nutshell, this is winter in Romania.
