199-2020 – Harris Museum

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is a long exposure shot of Harris Museum, Art Gallery & Library in Preston. Throughout the entire exposure, a person in an yellow T-shirt crossed the square from left to right in front of my camera. A yellow and orange wavy line has been recorded in the final image. 198-2020 – Tom Finney

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is about Tom Finney’s statue outside Preston North End Stadium in Preston. It looks better when the water fountain and the lighting is on. Sir Thomas Finney CBE was an English footballer who played from 1946 to 1960 as an outside left for Preston North End and England. He is widely acknowledged to have been one of the sport’s greatest-ever players. Like, comment & share!

195-2020 – Freshly Squeezed Fruit Juice

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is about my breakfast, lunch and dinner for today, a freshly squeezed fruit juice. The reason I didn’t have anything else for breakfast, lunch or dinner today was because I can’t swallow, due to a condition called tonsillitis, which I developed a few days ago, apparently because I took antibiotics a few weeks ago to prevent a bladder infection. 190-2020 – Daddy Pig

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is a portrait of Daddy Pig on a black background in the Ozgo Productions Studio. This image was taken with the iPhone 11 Pro with the 55mm lens and Slow Shutter app using a torch swinging from above as a main light. In post, I cropped the image 1:1 in Lightroom and adjusted the levels a little bit. I am not very happy with the reflective surface I used as the floor and retrospectively I think I should have extended the black background and let the toy […]

189-2020 – Ideal Combi Boiler Repair

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is about my Ideal Combi Boiler Repair experience. The long story short, my boiler was taking a long time to make hot water and recently developed a rumble noise, usually after I used the hot water, but not exclusively. See below video. I service my boiler every year and this year the hot water issue it happened just before the service day, so my hopes were really high that will be solved. It didn’t. Instead, Jake the boiler engineer said that the Plate Head Exchanger is the […]

186-2020 – Football Tennis

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is about Football Tennis, a sport I used to play in Romania in the 1990s. On my way back I noticed how people were enjoying a pint of beer in the newly opened pubs, under the supervision of two police officers. Too bad they are not allowed to drink while on duty – not fair. Venues are told to “assist (NHS Test and Trace) by keeping a temporary record of customers and visitors for 21 days and assist NHS Test and Trace with requests for that data […]

184-2020 – A Stubborn Bird

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is about a stubborn bird eating from one of the feeders. I was fascinated by the perseverance and as always the reward is well deserved. The poor bird was standing on a tiny branch, just thick enough to hold its weight, plus was leaning forward and towards the bird feeder, hopping to find a treat inside the hanging pine cone. I am not a specialist, but I believe this bird is called Magpie, from the Crows birds family, one of the many British Garden Birds protected by […]

183-2020 – My Aneroid Barometer

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is about my aneroid barometer, which until today was hanging on my wall as decor and not used for its intended purpose-predict the weather. I just learned how to calibrate it and from now on I will try to see how accurate is compared with the main weather channels and the actual reality. I am starting to appreciate old technology. I am blown away by the simplicity and craftsmanship and unlike our today gadgets don’t require electricity to function. Next, I will try to get myself an […]
