Most doctors recommend eating Ruby Red grapefruit for the more potent antioxidants. The Ruby Red grapefruit has twenty-eight times more vitamin A than the original white grapefruit. Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is about two bananas on a mirror in the Ozgo Productions studio. The setup was really simple, one flash head shooting through a snoot, about 45 degrees from the subject pointing down. The main benefit of using a snoot is controlling the light. It restricts the spread to a narrow beam, so that some areas of the frame are not lit at all. In our tabletop example, the bananas are highlighted and the background is totally black. To capture this image, I only used one spotlight to illuminate both the subject and the background at the same time. I placed the car on a mirror to get a nice reflection and then in Lightroom I cropped the image 1 x 1 (square) aspect ratio and adjusted the brightness slightly to make the car pop out a little bit. This images started with a black background and a white surface made of polystyrene. I was intrigued by the contrast and challenged myself to capture a black and white object in this environment.
