279-2020 – Figuring Figs Out

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is about figuring figs out, by photographing them on a black background. Another product photography session @Ozgo Productions’ Studio featuring two figs on a black background. I like my job, especially when I have to eat my subjects. Below are two more images which I like from the same shoot. Like, comment & share!

278-2020 – Rewire Outdoor Light

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is about rewire outdoor light and feed it through the wall. For about two years the cable of the outdoor light was running through a small window and during the winter I could feel the draft running down my neck. To fix the issue, I had to detach the wire from the rear of the light in order to be able to run it through the hole in the wall. Long story short, the issue has been fixed and I can fully close the window now. Why […]

277-2020 – Skilled Carpenter at Work

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is about a skilled carpenter fitting an interior door. Incidentally, the workbench was set up in the middle of Ozgo Production’s studio so I got my camera out and ready to shoot. Apparently, the job seems simple, but I was surprised by how many tools are necessary to complete the task to a professional level. From trimming the bottom of the door to ensure the door will fit the carpet, to chopping in the handle, each step will require different tools – as you can see in […]

275-2020 – White Fan on a Black Background

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is about a white fan on a black background. I also took the same image with various flash power settings ranging from 1/64 to 1/4, using a shutter speed of 1/200 sec, an aperture of F8, and an ISO of 100. I wanted to see when the speedlight’s power would overpower the backlight/rim light. I created a quick animation with ezgif.com, which you can see below. 274-2020 – Panda Bear Plush Toy

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is about my daughter’s Panda Bear Plush Toy on a black background. This images started with a black background and a white surface made of polystyrene. I was intrigued by the contrast and challenged myself to capture a black and white object in this environment. If you look closely in the toy’s eyes you can see where I got the lighting setup idea. Three-point lighting setup In order to achieve this setup I needed 3 lights. I had the back light (Elinchrom D-lite 400 flash head with […]

273-2020 – Watermelon Slice

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is about a more creative way to present a watermelon slice. For this image, I dared to try something a little bit different, so I decided to turn the red of the watermelon black and white but keep the crust in colour. I kind of like this look. 272-2020 – Passion Fruit

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is of a passion fruit cut in half on a black background. Know when to stop shooting! This is the first shot out of 3 in total. After the 3rd shot, I decided that the first image will suffice, so I stopped shooting. I took the card out of the camera and went upstairs and started editing on Adobe Lightroom Classic. I imported the 3 images and gave the first image 3 stars. Usually, when I have more images, this star rating helps me sort out the […]

271-2020 – Papaya Multiple Exposures

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is about Papaya fruit captured using a feature in my camera called Multiple Exposures. In case you haven’t noticed, in this image is only a half of papaya fruit on a black background, but as I mentioned above, on a Canon EOS 5D Mark III there is a built-in feature called “multiple exposures”. How to I used Multiple Exposures feature? In short, I enabled the multiple exposures feature, selected “additive” option with only 2 exposures (each exposure is added to the final image cumulatively) and rotated the […]

269-2020 – Pineapple on a black background

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is about a pineapple on a black background. This image was taken in Ozgo Production’s small studio with a Canon EOS 5D Mark III, a manual macro lens (F22), an Elinchrom flash head with a snoot on a light stand shooting down from above, but the key light was from a Canon speedlight flash on camera pointed at the object, exposure, 1/200 sec, ISO 100. In Ozgo Productions studio we captured different fruits on a black background like this apple or a small Daddy Pig toy, to […]

267-2020 – Selfie Family Time

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is about selfie family time initiated by our daughter. I decided to go with a blank & white treatment because I don’t want the variate colours to distract from the action, our daughter grabbing both of us by the neck while she is leaning towards the camera. 266-2020 – Cutting Firewood with a Chainsaw

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is about cutting firewood with a chainsaw. I have no experience cutting firewood with a chainsaw, but our neighbour Gabi offered to help. He brought his own Stihl chainsaw and heavy duty wood log splitter. Tomorrow will have to stack all the firewood inside, next to the fireplace. Winters are harsh in Romania, and for that reason we have to prepare in advance, while the sun is still shining, because is not advisable to use wet or green wood in the fireplace. If you do, you might […]

265-2020 – Silver Metal Whistle

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is about a silver metal blowing whistle. In order to take this image I used my iPhone 11 Pro a piece of white tissue on the kitchen table using the available light. The edit was done in Lightroom mobile, white balance, cropping and masking the object with my finger to get the white background. I have to admit that is not perfect, but it’s amazing what can be done these days on a smartphone. Like, comment & share!

264-2020 -Tasty Apple

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is of a tasty apple hanging in a tree in the orchard. Nothing compares with the action of walking through the orchard and pick up an apple from a tree, wipe it clean on your t-shirt and enjoy the divine taste of a simple apple. By the the way, did you know that an apple with skin on contains 50% more phytonutrients than a peeled one! Apple skins have exceptionally high concentrations of antioxidants. They also contain compounds (triterpenoids) with significant anti-cancer capabilities. Particularly so, when it comes to preventing liver, colon […]

263-2020 – Ripe Grapes

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is about ripe grapes hanging from a vine in our vineyard, ready to be picked up. Apparently, among other benefits, black grapes are healthier, have antioxidant and anti-cancer properties, containing a key ingredient in their skin: resveratrol, which is found to reduce inflammation and have a chemopreventive and chemotherapeutic effect on cancers, according to a September 2017 review in NPJ Precision Oncology. Like, comment & share!

261-2020 – Giant Grey Moth

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is about a giant grey moth we found in the basement of our house. My courageous wife picked it up gently and brought it outside, where I found it on a patch of grass, and started taking photos. Below are some of the stages the moth was going through as I shooting.
